    Chief Executive Officer

    Mr. Curiel possesses 32 years of well-rounded experience in downstream, midstream, oil and gas, marine, and drilling industries. Projects completed have included FEED, design, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and start up of facilities on land, barged mounted, supported by jackets, as well as floating systems. Facilities managed, designed, and installed include 18 US states, all over the world, and offshore. Areas of expertise include: oil and gas production top-sides, marine, drilling systems installed on jackets, TLPs, Mini-TLPs, and SPARs. Land based facilities include Cryogenic Plants, Fractionation Plants, Refrigerated Joule Thomson Plants, Amine, Valkyrie, TEG, Membrane, NRU, Compressor Stations, Pumping Stations, and Power Generation. Mr. Curiel began his career working in chemical and refining plants and then expanded his experience to the upstream industry and then the midstream industry. Mr. Curiel possesses ample experience in vibration and thermal stress analysis/design of piping systems and maintains this expertise. As a well-developed manager he has served in positions from project engineer to project manager on grass roots developments of various types. Mr. Curiel's focus is on the improvements to the design, constructability, operability, project schedule, and costs of engineering to clients. He has spearheaded the move to optimizing in-house engineering and design tools and continuous improvement programs within his organization. He is closely involved in development of procedures applicable to lesson learned. Mr Curiel prides himself with the development of intuitive procedures that empower employees and shape company culture.     Mr. Casey has over 15 years of EPC experience in Midstream, Oil and Gas production facilities, and pipelines. He oversees our engineering discipline leads and project engineers to ensure that quality deliverables are completed within budget, scope, and schedule. Mr. Casey has a diverse background, having successfully executed numerous oil and gas production facilities, natural gas processing plants, gathering compressor stations, transmission stations, and pipeline terminal facilities. With his field and engineering experience, Mr. Casey is skilled at managing multidisciplinary teams with a global project vision and an unwavering commitment to safety.

  • Michael Freeman, P.E.

    Michael Freeman, P.E.
    Director of Special Projects

    Mr. Freeman possesses over 39 years of experience in design and analysis of structural and mechanical systems in the industrial environment including process plants, marine and offshore structures, modular oil, gas and power production equipment, land and offshore drilling rigs, and machinery design. Experience in static, dynamic, thermal and detailed stress analysis of frames and mechanical systems. Includes wind, wave and current loading on offshore structures, response to earthquake and rotating equipment dynamics, shock, transportation and lifting loads. Mr. Freeman is recognized as an industry expert in the design of blast resistant buildings installed on floating production units. He has ample knowledge of the latest computer technology for structural and stress analysis, industry codes for onshore and offshore structural and mechanical systems including AISC, IBC including earthquake, ASCE, API, ABS, DNV, BOCA and foreign codes.

  • Todd Blum

    Todd Blum
    Process / Mechanical Engineering Lead

    Mr. Blum possesses over 18 years of experience in concept, detail design, and direct oversight of fabrication of oil and gas production facilities and equipment. His career was first developed as a mechanical engineer and later transitioned into process engineering. Due to his ongoing close involvement in process work through his entire career, this transition quickly catapulted him into a lead position. He has demonstrated a keen interest in developing better designs by challenging industry's standards while avoiding the reinvention of existing proven processes. His well-rounded experience enhances his process and facility design capabilities as he is not just book smart but applies extensive practical experience into his process designs. His experience encompasses multidisciplinary designs conducted entirely on his own to include process, mechanical, structural, electrical and control systems. Mr. Blum commands a wide view of all tasks required to execute projects with the main focus on process systems and mechanical completion while maintaining a clear understanding of equipment requirements and specifications. His abilities extend from budget development and estimating, project planning, detail design, fabrication surveillance, installation, and start up. Very familiar with API 14C and RP2A compliance including emphasis on piping and equipment design and analysis.

    Oswaldo Russian, Ph.D., P.E.
    Civil / Structural Engineering Lead

    Mr. Russian has extensive structural and civil engineering design, fabrication and construction experience in the oil and gas industry. Scope of work includes developing creative solutions involving implementation of computational and analytical techniques in the field of performance assessment of structures and equipment with emphasis on extreme loading conditions (blast, fire, cryogenic), fatigue and fracture mechanics. He also specializes in thermomechanical assessment and design of LNG pipe shrouding and impoundments against accidental cryogenic and fire hazards, consequence-based Facility Siting Studies using DNV-PHAST, equipment foundation and steel platform design. Mr. Russian’s experience in both new and operating facilities includes analysis, design, development of standards and automation modeling to reduce costs, streamline construction, operations and maintenance and maximize safety. Mr. Russian’s work has been published in Journal of Bridge Engineering, Journal of Constructional Steel, Composite Structures and Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities.

    Electrical / Instrument Engineering Lead

    Mr. Leonardo Mejia has over 7 years of strong experience in midstream oil and gas and LNG projects. His fast growth and gain in experience includes not only Electrical Engineering but also detail Electrical design, Grounding and Hazardous Area Classification. He supervises Engineering activities and deliverables for electrical suppliers, subcontractors and coordinates with the multidisciplinary project engineering teams. His experience with NEC, NFPA, NEMA, API, ANSI, IEEE, IEC, Australian standards and Canadian Electrical Codes has allowed him to successfully develop and complete well-rounded electrical packages in all phases of large EPC projects – FEED to detailed engineering in green field and brownfield engineering modification projects.

    Design & Drafting Manager

    Mr. Underwood brings over 13 years of experience in 3D and 2D AutoCAD operations to his role as Design & Drafting Manager. He supervises our drafting department in executing designs for Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas Facilities, Midstream Gas Processing Plants, Compressor Stations, LNG Plants, Cryo Plants, Amine Plants, Well Pad Facilities, and Central Processing Facilities. Mr. Underwood oversees the preparation of drawings in all disciplines: Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Pressure Vessels, Equipment, Piping, Structural, Skid Arrangements, Facilities Layouts, and Fabrication Isometrics. He works closely with each Engineering Lead to ensure the design execution meets the project specifications.

    Mr. Phillips has over 25 years of experience in business development in the Oil and Gas Industry in Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream sectors. Mark’s expertise is in Turn-key facility projects, compression stations, Gas Processing, multi-well pad facilities, and EOR projects. He oversees our sales and business development efforts making sure F&C Engineers is supporting customers’ needs and expanding into new ventures.
